B2B startup webinar: How to find, approach and engage industry analysts

Hazel Butters/ January 20, 2022/ Analyst Relations, Events

Industry analysts play a crucial role in guiding buyers on which technologies and vendors to evaluate – more than half of enterprise technology buyers refer or rely on analyst insight during the buying process. This may be the appointment of an analyst firm to work with them during the evaluation or buying process, asking analysts to provide a list of recommended vendors, to handle an RFP, or reading analyst reports.

These scenarios can be frustrating for B2B technology startups which may feel industry analysts are out of their reach – they don’t have the budgets, teams, brand, or resources compared to larger, more established competitors. They are unlikely to be paid clients of Gartner or Forrester and have less visibility and airtime with those analysts.

While being a direct client of one of the larger groups, such as Gartner or Forrester, may be out of financial reach for some of these startups, it doesn’t mean they can’t brief Gartner’s or Forrester’s analysts. Plus, there are dozens of other analyst firms speaking to prospective buyers of specific technologies and specializing in particular markets.
